A couple of weeks ago, my daily devotional was Hebrews 7:28 “For the law makes men high priests which have infirmity, but the word of the oath which was since the law, makes the son, who is consecrated forever more .” When I broke out my dictionary and looked up the word infirmity, it means “physical or mental weakness”. Some synonyms for infirmity are illness, ailment, disease, disorder, sickness, affliction, complaint, indisposition, frailty, and weakness. So basically this verse is saying God intends for his high priests to be someone with a physical or mental weakness…in other words, someone who is not perfect. This made me think of how some Christians become born again, but completely forget about their past mistakes. Those mistakes are your testimony about how far God has brought you. Have you ever heard the phrase “never forget where you come from?”
When I read my devotionals I try to go back and read the entire chapter to get a complete understanding of what I am reading. This brought me to the verse Hebrews 7:7,
“And without contradiction, the less is blessed of the better”
I had to write this verse down. It is such a powerful verse when you think about it. In other words, if you are humble and not greedy, you will be blessed more. Today’s society is based off of power, greed, fame, pride…Everybody wants to be somebody. I thought about the show Greenleaf, and how the church is portrayed as Pastors getting rich off their congregation being fake ministers trying to see who can build the biggest church and have the biggest congregation, but behind the scenes they are liars, fornicators, and lusting after worldly things. This is why so many are lost because the church has been made a big joke. It is assumed that you are perfect once you become a Christian. So many are afraid of being themselves in fear of being judged and condemned by the “perfect Christians”. It’s time that we clean house with the fake. God is going to expose those and raise up a generation that knows the truth…this truth is his unchanging Word! The less will be blessed….in other words the last shall be first and the first shall be last. All these TV ministers and big churches that are profiting off of their people for their own selfish reasons will be exposed.
Kirk Franklin has a song out that is called “Give Me” and one of the verses states,
“No more miracle water, that comes from money and fame. Everybody got a title, but do you know your name. If we humble ourselves people, fall on our face, and ask God everything in me that’s not right, Lord take it away.”
We are the chosen generation and it is time that we wake up. God is using people that have a story to tell…those that are not perfect. He’s using people that others can relate to. The true meaning of “Come as you are” is to be transparent. Tell your story. Show those that are lost how far God has brought you. If you were a drug addict, tell your story. If you used to be promiscuous, tell your story. Your testimony is the most powerful tool that you have. You don’t have to be ministers, you only have to be yourself…your true self. I challenge you to tell someone your story, and how far God has brought you out. He said in Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”. Psalms 37:4 “Delight thyself in the Lord, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart”. There is no need to follow our own selfish desires because he has already promised to give us the desires of our heart if we seek him first.
